Paved road and gravel road. Fun on two wheels in harmony with nature.

A 56-km-long itinerary – half of which on gravel road – with various stretches inside the historical Pine forest of Classe, up to the beach town of Milano Marittima/Cervia.

The starting point is the historical centre of Ravenna, from which you will head towards the Fiumi Uniti river. After just 7 km, you get to the small hamlet of Classe, known for the stunning Basilica of Sant’Apollinare in Classe, declared Unesco World Heritage monument.

After 2 more km of paved and gravel road, and after passing by the old sugar factory of Classe – today hosting the Classis Museum – you get to the edge of the charming Pine forest of Classe.

Here, the route takes on a new and much more immersive aspect. You will cycle in the shade of century-old trees on a 10-km-long compact gravel road.

You absolutely must stop at the watchtower overlooking the natural Oasis of Ortazzo and Ortazzino, which often hosts flocks of flamingos and of various species of herons and shorebirds that come here to nest.

Then, you will pass by Lido di Classe and Lido di Savio, where a new and short stretch of pine forest will lead you to Milano Marittima.

Some more pedal strokes in the shade of the pines, and you are ready to go back towards Ravenna.
