On Saturday 12th October, the lights in Ravenna turn on for NOTTE D’ORO. Guided tours, exhibitions, extraordinary evening openings of the monuments and much more will enliven the historical centre of the city with a wide programme of events.

This year, Notte d’Oro will be followed by a day full of special openings and guided tours to the historical palaces of Ravenna, on Sunday 13th October.

SATURDAY 12th OCTOBER

• GIUSEPPE GIACOBAZZI and iMASA
Piazza del Popolo
Time: 9 pm

The Italian comedian Giuseppe Giacobazzi on stage with his show “Del mio meglio” a collection of the best pieces of his 20-year career, which have become famous through tv and live shows. The main theme will be, as always, the everyday life, told with irony and comedy.

iMasa are Alessandro Basini and Andrea Dalla Giovanna, who have conquered the public in just a few months with their ability to remake famous songs. On stage, they are able to use more than 20 different musical instruments, from ukulele to nasal flute.

• BRONSON PRODUZIONI presents A HAWK AND A HACKSAW live
ARMONIKA dj set

MAR – Ravenna Art Museum
Time: from 10 pm to 1.30 am

The inner cloister will be animated with a musical background that will accompany visitors.

A Hawk and a Hacksaw, from the USA, will perform a magical mix of Balcan sounds, Magyar dances, Klezmer tradition and Middle-East sounds.

Afterwards, a set by Armonika, including a hybrid dj set by Zoetrope and Lester Mann along with Freddy Amoruso‘s digital accordion and Mattia Dambrosio‘s guitar, everything accompanied by performances by Agnesoride and Chickpea.

MOSAICO DI NOTTE SPECIAL

EXHIBITIONS

• I’M A MOSAIC – DA SEVERINI, SIRONI, FONTANA A PALADINO, PLESSI E SAMORÌ
MAR – Ravenna Art Museum

An exhibition celebrating the 100th anniversary of the School of Mosaic, in collaboration with Accademia di Belle Arti Statale.

Tickets: € 5 for all day
Tickets also allow access to the permanent collections of the museum.

• OBSERVATION OF THE MOON AND SATURN
Corridoio Grande of the Classense Library – Via Baccarini, 3
Time: 8 pm

Observation of the moon and Saturn in the Corridoio Grande of the Classense Library, with two astronomical telescopes near the big windows on the southern side. The observation will be accompanied by the screening of “Le Voyage dans la Lune” by Georges Méliès.

An event organised by Ravenna’s Planetarium in collaboration with Istituzione Biblioteca Classense and Amici della Classense.

NOTTE D’ORO FOR KIDS

Duration: 1 hour and 30 minutes

Mosaic workshop for children between 5 and 11 years.

VISITE GUIDATE SPECIALI AI PALAZZI STORICI DI RAVENNA

• PALAZZO DELLA PROVINCIA

Duration: 30 minutes

The stunning palace, dating back to the 17th century, stands on the foundations of the ancient palace of the Rasponi family and was realised on a project by architect Giulio Ulisse Arata and engineer Gioacchino Luigi Mellucci.

• CLASSENSE LIBRARY
Meeting point: Classense Library – Via Baccarini, 3
Time: from 10 am to 12.30 pm
Duration: 30 minutes

Hosted inside a Camaldolese monastery built from 1512, the complex is considered a true jewel both from the architectural and artistic point of view.

• PALAZZO DELLA PREFETTURA

Duration: 30 minutes

Once the seat of the papal legate, since the 13th century representative of the Holy See in the city, the palace has undergone many restoration works and has hosted the prefecture since 1863.

Free entry (visits only in Italian).

• RESIDENZA MUNICIPALE
Meeting point: Residenza Municipale – Piazza del Popolo
Time: from 3 pm to 5.30 pm
Duration: 30 minutes

The town hall, also known as Palazzo Merlato, has lived various events throughout the centuries.

• MOLINO LOVATELLI
Meeting point: Tourist Information Office – Piazza San Francesco, 7
Time: from 3 pm to 5.30 pm
Duration: 1 hour and 15 minutes

Books have talked about this place since 1237, as it is an important example of industrial archaeology documenting the history of water in Ravenna. As a source of energy, it used the waters of the Molino channel, which derived from the Montone river and which connected it to the Ronco river.
