Romagna peaches and nectarines PGI

ROMAGNA PEACHES AND NECTARINES PGI were born from the crossbreed of various types of peach with yellow and white flesh and are among the first types of peach in Europe that obtained the PGI label at the end of the ’90s.

And this fact is not fortuitous. Ravenna and its territory have been an essential reference point for the origins of fruit growing at industrial level. The first orchards – mainly peach orchards – were created in the area of Massa Lombarda between the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century.

Unlike Romagna peaches, characterised by a velvety skin, nectarines have a smooth and remarkably compact skin. Both types have a juicy texture and a sugary taste.

Romagna peaches and nectarines PGI are usually eaten at the end of meals and are perfect as an ingredient for fruit salads, ice creams and desserts. Their low calorie content makes them a perfect fruit for summer diets.
