2021 is the fortieth year of activity of the group from Ravenna MORRIGAN’S WAKE. It can be considered with good reason one of the longest-lived and innovative groups in the Italian Celtic folk field.
To celebrate this anniversary, on Saturday 31 July, the band will play in a live concert on the stage of Piazza del Popolo, with a repertoire of good music for an evening of fun.
Over the years, the Morrigan’s Wake have been ranging from Breton to Irish music, with incursions from the traditional folk music of the Po Valley and, even more, of the Scottish music.
A concert of the Morrigan’s Wake is a mix of dancing (jigs, reels, polkas), ballads, slow airs, arranged at times traditionally at times following schemes that recall the traditional Celtic music of Northern Europe.
The Morrigan’s Wake:
Davide Castiglia – violin
Tiziana Ferretti – voice, bodhran
Francois Gobbi – electric bass
Maurizio Lumini – harpsichord
Barbara Mortarini – recorder (contralto, soprano), tin and low whistles
Massimo Pirini – acoustic guitar, voice
Guest: Fiorenzo Mengozzi – bodhran and percussions
