From 6th to 30th June 2025, the Via Zirardini Open-Air Gallery will host I GRANT YOU REFUGE, a photographic exhibition, part of the information and awareness-raising campaign promoted by the Festival delle Culture, which recounts the everyday life of the civilian and Palestinian population in Gaza.
The title of the exhibition “I Grant You Refuge“, curated by photographer Paolo Patruno, is inspired by the poem of the same name by Palestinian writer and poet Hiba Abu Nada, who was killed on 20 October 2023 in her home in Khan Yunis during a bombing.
The 14 photographs in the exhibition were taken by six Palestinian photojournalists: Shadi Al-Tabatibi, Mahdy Zourob, Mohammed Hajjar, Saeed Mohammed Jaras, Omar Naaman Ashtawy and Jehad Al-Sharafi and document the extraordinary resilience and humanity of the Palestinian people, suffering and death that the media does not always manage to recount, but also the life that flows amidst destruction and rubble.
The hope is to contribute to a collective reflection on what everyone, the European institutions and the international community can do to defend human rights and peace.
