St. Valentine’s day in the monuments of Ravenna

To celebrate Nicolò Rondinelli’s panel “Saint John the Baptist appears to Galla Placidia”, that has recently come back to the National Museum (as part of the “100 opere tornano a casa” project), from February 15th to 18th, 2022 the admission to the Ravenna National Museum will be FREE OF CHARGE for all visitors.

Admission to other monuments of Ravenna regulated by Direzione Regionale Musei Emilia-Romagna will be free of charge too, on the occasion of St. Valentine’s day. It’s an opportunity not to be missed!

Ravenna National Museum 

Monday, February 14th. Closed.

Tuesday, February 15th. Free admission. Opening hours: 8.30 am – 7.30 pm
Wednesday, February 16th. Free admission. Opening hours: 2 pm – 7.30 pm
Thursday, February 17th. Free admission. Opening hours: 8.30 am – 7.30 pm
Friday, February 18th. Free admission. Opening hours: 8.30 am – 7.30 pm

Saturday, February 19th. Admission ticket. Opening hours: 8.30 pm – 2 pm
Sunday, February 20th. Admission ticket. Opening hours: 8.30 pm – 7.30 pm

Besides the recently rearranged permanent exhibition, people who visit the National Museum will also have the possibility to visit in advance the first two halls of the new section dedicated to painting, hosting the precious panels once housed in the church of San Giovanni Evangelista. The most important one of them, “Saint John the Baptist appears to Galla Placidia” by Nicolò Rondinelli was on loan to the Pinacoteca di Brera in Milan, and has recently come back to Ravenna.

The painting depicts a legend that is well-known to the people of rRavenna. The protagonists are Galla Placidia, saint Barbatianus and Saint John, masterfully painted with vibrant colours and refined details.

Basilica of Sant’Apollinare in Classe

From Monday, February 14th to Thursday, February 17th. Free admission. Opening hours: 8.30 am – 7.30 pm

From friday, February 18th to Sunday, February 20th. Admission ticket. Opening hours: 8.30 am – 4.30 pm
Saturday, February 19th. Admission ticket. Opening hours: 9 am – 12 pm and 2 pm – 5 pm

Theodoric’s palace

Monday, February 14th. Free admission. Opening hours: 8.30 am – 13 pm
