As part of the VIII Contemporary Mosaic Biennial, from October 14th, 2023 to January 14th, 2024, Ravenna hosts the exhibition CATODICA by Luca Barberini, curated by Luca Ciancabilla and Daniele Torcellini.
Twenty mosaics dedicated to the influence of mass communication, filtered through the artist’s bitter and ironic gaze, will be displayed along Via Diaz, at the foot of the University Palace, in the spaces where twenty television screens were once prominently featured, between the late 1980s and early 1990s.
“Catodica” invites us to look at what was then the headquarters of the Ferruzzi group from a different perspective. At the time, it was led by Raul Gardini, who, just a few meters away in the corner windows, was supposed to host the works of Burri if the commission had not been abruptly interrupted by Gardini’s death during the turbulent events of those years.
