On the occasion of the 8th Biennial of Contemporary Mosaic, every Saturday the guided tour BURRIRAVENNAORO AND CONTEMPORARY MOSAIC will take you to the discovery of the exhibitions on display at the MAR – Ravenna Art Museum.
The tour begins with BurriRavennaOro, temporary exhibition curated by Bruno Corà and dedicated to the intense relationship between Alberto Burri and the city of Ravenna from the end of the ’80s.
In his last productions, the artist creates works drawing inspiration from the culture and history of the city of mosaics, through the contrast of gold and black, shades and lights, representing and transforming the modernity of a city where the grandeur of the past has progressively intertwined the productive and industrial development of the present.
The tour continues with a visit to the Collection of Contemporary Mosaic – which was recently renovated – to retrace the development of mosaic art from the ’20s to today. The turning point of the development of mosaic art is the Exhibition of Modern Mosaics of 1959, whose works represent the core of the collection at the basis of the entire exhibition.
At the end of the tour, participants will have the possibility to continue independently with a visit to the exhibitions La memoria fisica della materia, Ettore Sottsass – La città morta and to the Municipal Art Gallery.
