From Friday 21th to Sunday 29th June, the MAR – Ravenna Art Museum hosts the 4th edition of COCONINO FEST, the festival of the Coconino Press publishing house, celebrating comics in relationship with other languages and forms of expressions, such as music, novels, videos and theatre.
In the year in which Coconino Press celebrates its 25th anniversary, the festival revolves around the word FUTURE and becomes an opportunity to question the future, both of the world we live in and of narration through images, retracing the history of the publishing house, from timeless classics to the future of new talents.
From George Herriman, one of the founding fathers of the Ninth Art with the Krazy Kat strips, to the international masters David B. and Maruo Suehiro, with the participation of many Italian guests: ZUZU, Alessandro Tota, Daniele Kong, Roberto Grossi, Cleo Bissong, Chiara Fazi and others.
The festival will feature a rich programme with exhibitions and a weekend of meetings with the authors protagonists of the exhibitions, other cartoonists and well-known artists who will give life to a series of special events, shows and performances.
For the duration of the Festival, the MAR – Ravenna City Art Museum will host eight exhibitions grouped under the title “From the Classics to the Future, a Century of Comics in Eight Exhibitions” and dedicated to the protagonists of the festival.
Like every year, there will be a big final party on the beach of the Hana-bi in Marina di Ravenna with an explosive party to celebrate 25 years of Coconino Press.
For the second year the Coconino Fest will also land at the Classense Library, with an exhibition dedicated to Roberto Grossi‘s La grande rimozione, the best graphic novel of 2024 according to Internazionale, visible until 29th June.
