From 2nd February to 2nd March 2026, the Via Zirardini Open-Air Gallery will host IL MAR DEI PICCOLI, an educational exhibition linked to the event held in February at the MAR – Ravenna Art Museum.
The works on display are illustrations by Filippo Farneti, head of the museum’s education department, created over the years for publications dedicated to children and designed to explain and describe the exhibitions and the MAR to children and their families.
A lively and colourful visual universe that spans the history of art and the collective imagination and, within the urban space, dialogues with the city, highlighting the value of museum education.
From major artistic movements such as Abstract Art and Surrealism, to iconic figures such as Bruno Munari, Dante and Leonardo, from references to Ravenna’s cultural identity, such as Guidarello and the doves of the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, to the dreamlike world of Marc Chagall, from the poetic tones of Le coq bleu to dreams suspended in blue, linked to the recent MAR exhibition Chagall in Mosaic and the publication Nel blu. Un sogno di Chagall.
The illustrations introduce art to children, arousing wonder, curiosity and imagination.
