On the occasion of the Biennial of Contemporary Mosaic, from 18th October 2025 to 18th October 2026 the noble halls of Palazzo Rasponi dalle Teste host two parallel solo exhibitions by Omar Mismar and Shahzia Sikander.
The exhibitions, curated by Serena Simoni e Daniele Torcellini, aim to explore and bring to the public’s attention the presence and role of mosaic in contemporary and multidisciplinary artistic practices that address crucial issues related to identity, politics and social tensions of the present.
Omar Mismar (1986, Lebanon) lives and works in Beirut. He is a multidisciplinary artist exploring the relationship between art and politics, the theme of desire and the aesthetics of disaster. Using material interventions, formal reflections and translation strategies, Mismar employs photography, video, mosaic, installations and other media to explore social dynamics as well as the everyday manifestations of conflict.
For the occasion, a new work is being presented, created in collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts in Ravenna and Marco Santi’s Ravenna Mosaicists Group, with the active involvement of students.
