From 22nd March to 2nd June 2024, on the occasion of Festival delle Culture, the MAR – Ravenna Art Museum hosts EXODUS – UMANITÀ IN CAMMINO, an exhibition curated by Lélia Wanick Salgado dedicated to the great Brazilian photographer Sebastião Salgado in Ravenna.
Salgado begins his photographic, physical and existential journey in the galaxy of migrations in 1993. In six years, the Brazilian reporter has travelled through four continents with works that capture departures and arrivals, refugee camps where millions of people live an uncertain destiny.
Since then, the map of the world looks changed, but the migration of whole populations is more than ever contemporary and the conditions of refugees or migrants represent a scenario that becomes more and more global.
The exhibition is organised by the Department of Culture and Mosaic and the Department of Immigration, Gender politics and cultures of the Municipality of Ravenna, in collaboration with Contrasto and thanks to the support of the Emilia-Romagna region, Fondazione del Monte di Bologna e Ravenna and Fondazione Cittalia Anci.
