From 21st March to 3rd May 2026, the noble spaces of Palazzo Rasponi dalle Teste in Ravenna will host an exhibition dedicated to PHILIPPE ARTIAS, a French painter, ceramist and designer with strong ties to Italy.
He spent the last thirty years of his life in Italy and produced a vast body of work, part of which is preserved in the space dedicated to him on the outskirts of Faenza.
His connection with Romagna and the city of Manfreda began through ceramics, an interest that started in the post-war period, when Artias was part of a group of young artists working with Pablo Picasso in Vallauris.
From 1960 to 1973, he was always present at the Salon de Mai, in 1965 at the Venice Biennale, then in important international exhibitions in the USA, Japan, Brazil and various European capitals, at important galleries and public museums.
The exhibition in Ravenna aims to showcase Artias’ art through a selection of paintings and video testimonials related to his most important pictorial cycles.
“A painting of struggle”, as the artist himself defined it, “perennially suspended between form and colour, body and nature, reality and abstract sign”.
