From 1st June to 4th July 2026, the Manica Lunga gallery at the Classense Library is hosting the exhibition GAZA ON THE WALL by the artist Mazen Kerbaj, as part of the Coconino Festival, the independent comics festival now in its fifth year.
On display is a selection of cartoons and drawings by the Lebanese artist, who is now based in Berlin.
Since autumn 2023, Mazen has been keeping a visual diary born out of the urgent need to respond to the constant stream of videos, photographs and news coming from Palestine and, more recently, from southern Lebanon.
Through their phone screens, the world has watched live as Gaza was destroyed and the daily violence inflicted upon the Palestinian population: a wound that remains open, despite announcements of a truce.
The drawings collected by Kerbaj in a book transform daily horror into visual memory. They are at once a personal processing of trauma, a political gesture and an act of testimony: a way to escape powerlessness, challenge the dominant narrative and leave a trace of a tragedy that continues before everyone’s eyes.
