Giro d’Italia and Giro d’Italia Women in Ravenna – Sunday 17th and Saturday 30th May

The Giro d’Italia and Giro d’Italia Women will pass through the territory of Ravenna on Sunday 17th May (Stage 9: Cervia – Corno alle Scale) and Saturday 30th May (stage 1: Cesenatico – Ravenna) respectively.

GIRO D’ITALIA – Sunday 17th May

For the men’s Giro d’Italia, the route will pass through:

  • Castiglione di Ravenna
  • San Zaccaria
  • San Pietro in Campiano
  • San Pietro in Vincoli
  • Coccolia (attraversamento della Ravegnana)
  • San Pietro in Trento.

The roads involved will be provincial roads 3, 54, 53 and 34.

The riders are expected to first enter the territory of the municipality at 12.54 pm; the advertising caravan will precede the race by approximately one hour and a half.

GIRO D’ITALIA WOMEN – Saturday 30th May

The Giro d’Italia Women, arriving from Pisignano and Cannuzzo, will enter the municipality of Ravenna at Matelica (provincial road 33, via Principessa Doria and provincial road 118) and continue through:

  • Casemurate (sp 118)
  • San Zaccaria (sp 3)
  • San Pietro in Campiano (sp 3)
  • San Pietro in Vincoli (sp 3)
  • Gambellara (sp 3)
  • Ghibullo (ss 67 e sp 5)
  • Roncalceci (sp 3)
  • Ragone (sp 3)

The route will also pass through the municipalities of Russi, Bagnacavallo and Alfonsine, before re-entering the municipality of Ravenna via via Molinazza and crossing:

  • Savarna (sp 105 e sp 24)
  • Sant’Alberto (sp 24, via Olindo Guerrini e sp 1)
  • San Romualdo (sp 1).

The race will enter the city via via Sant’Alberto, via Bisanzio and via Teodora. After crossing the finish line on via della Darsena, the riders will complete the following urban circuit three times: via Teodora, via Antica Popilia, via L. Cilla, via Rotta, circonvallazione San Gaetanino, via Sant’Alberto, via di Roma, via Cesarea, via Romea, viale Europa, via Stradone, via Secondo Casadei, via Destra Canale Molinetto, via Bellucci, circonvallazione Piazza d’Armi, via Candiano, via della Darsena, via dell’Antico Squero, via della Montecatini, via Romea Nord, via Enrico Mattei, via Teodora.

The final finish line, at the end of the third lap, will be located on via della Darsena, in front of the Moro di Venezia.

The cyclists are expected to enter the southern part of the municipality of Ravenna (Matelica) at 3.50 pm, the northern area (Savarna) at 5.03 pm and Ravenna (via Sant’Alberto) at 5.27 pm. The finish in the Darsena area is estimated between 6.30 pm and 6.50 pm.

TRAFFIC AND ROAD CLOSURES

Traffic on the roads affected by the races will be suspended several hours before the riders pass through.

In addition, duting the Giro d’Italia Women, parking will be prohibited along the entire urban route, with exact times still to be confirmed.

Checks and assessments are currently underwat to define in detail the road closure schedules and all aspects related to the management of the two race days. Exact closure times will be communicated as soon as they are confirmed.

Please note that there may be impacts on accessibility to locations and businesses situated along the route and in surrounding areas. Residents and operators are therefore advised to take this into due consideration.
