From 7th December 2025 to 8th February 2026, the new space at MAR – Ravenna Art Museum, the Arts & New Media Room, will host a temporary exhibition by artist JONATHAN VANDYKE entitled NELL’ETERNITÀ DEL PROVVISORIO / IN THE ETERNITY OF THE TEMPORARY, as part of the Spazio Neutro project, curated by Giorgia Salerno.
The American artist and performer draws inspiration from Ravenna’s mosaics, particularly those in the Basilica of San Vitale, to create a modular environment in which the tiles are transformed into painted fabric textures and the decorative element becomes an instrument of contemplation for the visitor.
The exhibition invites the public to physically enter the work: the costumes created by the artist for the occasion will be available to visitors, who will be able to wear them and become part of the composition, helping to reveal the continuous dialogue between intellect, gesture and artistic enjoyment.
Finissage Sunday 8th February from 2 pm to 6 pm
At the end of the exhibition, there will be a performance entitled Attorno a questo mio corpo (Around My Body) by Jonathan VanDyke, in collaboration with Gemma Hansson Carbone and Marica Mastromarino, produced by 1/9unosunove arte contemporanea. The project is inspired by a verse by the poet Amelia Rosselli (Paris 1930 – Rome 1996) and explores the relationship between bodies and spaces.
