On 1st, 2nd and from 6th to 8th June, as part of the Ravenna Festival, the show BHAGAVADGĪTĀ भगवद्गीता – Il canto del Divino – will be staged at the Cisim in Lido Adriano.
The Bhagavad Gita is a sacred text that is part of the larger epic poem Mahabharata, and consists of 700 verses along which the dialogue between Arjuna and the God Krishna, his spiritual guide, unfolds.
The context is dramatic: the dialogue takes place on the battlefield of Kurukshetra, just before the start of a devastating war between two rival factions, the Pandavas and the Kauravas.
The Gita deals with profound themes such as duty, action, morality, spirituality and liberation. The war that is about to break out is nothing less than a universal conflict between dharma (duty) and adharma (injustice).
Arjuna is overwhelmed by doubts and emotions and, in such a moment of crisis, Krishna offers him a series of teachings concerning life, death and the meaning of existence.
