The 14-hectare park in which the Mausoleo di Teodorico (Mausoleum of Theodoric) stands was designed by architect Boris Podrecca and is a natural symbiosis of culture and landscape, between the ancient historical walls and the green belt of the city.
Almost two hectares are reserved for the agricultural park created in collaboration with the Azienda Agricola Sperimentale Mario Marani (Mario Marani Experimental Farm) and three educational trails document the evolution of the crops.
All the elements of the park recall the characteristics of the Ravenna area, the strength of the countryside and the transparency of the water: in fact, at the northern entrance, there are some stretches of water, crossed by wooden footbridges, which in summer are filled with beautiful lotus flowers. From here it is possible to see various animal species, such as turtles, fish, geese, ducks and seagulls.
The park also contains vegetable gardens, semi-wooded areas, lawns with children’s playgrounds, a large strip for bowls and paths for walking or jogging. Along the main path, two buildings provide bar and restroom facilities.
