One immediately notices, in front of the basilica of S. Apollinare in Classe, the bronze works by Davide Rivalta: five Mediterranean Buffaloes set out on the lawn since 2012.

The animals are represented as they move closer to the observer: every single statue, in fact, was conceived and created in precise relation to the surrounding landscape.

The artistic study undertaken by Rivalta, who considers himself to be from Ravenna, although he was born in Bologna, is defined by his use of a figurative language and his investigation of the animal world, a pretext for analysing the relationship between the work, the space and the spectator, with the aim of encouraging observers to focus their attention on the past while striving towards new horizons.
