Are you ready to discover the big maps about the great reclamation works carried out during the 17th century, which show the process of regimentation and regulation of the waters over the territory of Ravenna ordered by Pope Clement VII (1531-1572) and Pope Gregory XIII (1578-1596), along with documents written in the 16th and 17th century, topographic maps for the works carried out on the rivers Ronco and Montone and the construction of canal Corsini?
This and much more are the focus of the exhibition Lavori d’acque. Storia di chiuse, ponti e bonifiche (sec. XV-XX) scheduled from 16 March to 18 May at the Classense Library.
The realisation of these works and the constant commitment of man for the maintenance of drainages, canals, sewers, sluices, gutters and bridges not only preserve the territory of Ravenna from the threat of the waters, but it is also helpful for the Romagna farming sector through a vast irrigation system
