The age-old Italian tradition of Nativity Scenes is an artistic symbol of popular culture that urges us to reflect on the mystery of Nativity, and they are a very strong tradition in Ravenna as well. You can admire them inside the churches and in the shop windows of the city centre as well as in some seaside resorts.

On a 400-sqm area, international artists meet to give birth to the artistic Sand Nativity scene, taking inspiration from famous paintings and sculptures, and creating majestic artworks that depict the Nativity scene, some of them reaching even the height of 3 m.
Creator: the event is organized by Organizzazione Associazione Culturale Arte in Spiaggia and Obelix beach resort. The Nativity scene is part of Seguendo la Stella Cometa, the project supported by Regione Emilia Romagna.

Nativity Scene in Lido Adriano
Parrish of Lido Adriano – Viale Alessandro Manzoni, 381
Dates: 7 December–25 January (it may last longer, TBC)
Time: 11am–12pm and 4pm–6pm (Monday to Friday). During the holidays, 30 minutes before the Holy Mass celebrations
Creator: the project originated from the collaboration between the association Amare Lido Adriano and the Parish Church of San Massimiliano Kolbe in Lido Adriano.
This Nativity Scene is 5 m long and 2 m bright. It features ceramic statues created according to the tradition and mechanical moving parts.

Living Nativity Scene in Classe: ‘The entrance in Bethlehem’
Casa dei Ragazzi and Basilica of Sant'Apollinare in Classe – Classe
Dates and time: 24 December, starting from 7pm; 29 December and 6 January 3pm–6pm
On Christmas Eve, at 11.45pm, the parade in costume will walk reaching the Basilica for the Holy Mass.
The afternoon of 5 January, at 4.30 pm, the Three Wise Men will arrive on the back of their horses, bringing their gifts to Baby Jesus and every child. The event is free
The living Nativity Scene in Classe will re-enact the night of 24 December. The actors are volunteers of the community of Classe.
