Music, Stories and Digital Marathons are the three main themes characterising this year's programme.
First in line is Music. Countless live performances will range among a variety of genres to suit every taste: from organ music (Basilica of San Vitale at 6pm and 10pm) by Maestro Amoroso and I Cantori di San Vitale, to djsets and live performances in public places and venues of the city centre, to the great free concert in Piazza del Popolo with a performance by NADA with the band A Toys Orchestra at 10.30pm.
For Stories (Racconto): Palace of Congresses (Palazzo dei Congressi) at 9pm will se Dacia Maraini protagonist, guest of RavennaPoesia, for a reading-interview, accompanied by Gabriele Marchesini.
Many displays will be open for the night. At Gallery Palazzo Rasponi 2 from 5pm to 11pm "Vortex, pensieri sulle stelle personale di Opiemme"; in Palazzo Rasponi dalle Teste from 6pm to 11pm photography display "Dante Eco" by Giampiero Corelli, and "Con vista carca di stupor", under the supervision of well-known photographer Guido Guidi; at Alfredo Oriani Library from 9pm to midnight "IdDANTE. Il volto di dante per una traduzione contemporanea" with works by 33+1 artists made with different techniques; last but not least, at Classense Library until 9pm "Valentino Parmiani. Paesaggi/Architetture".
Do not miss the chance to discover some of the most suggestive corners of the city with a guided tour in Italian. Itineraries vary: at 5.30pm "Ravenna svelata" (curated by Ravenna Incoming) and at 6pm "Dal Museo alla Bottega", featuring visits to the collection of modern mosaics of the MAR Museum and to the workshop of a mosaic manufacturer (for further information: +39 0544 35404).
The golden allure permeating the city will shine through some of Unesco's monuments open for this occasion until 11pm and later - Basilica of San Vitale, Mausoleum of Galla Placidia -; TAMO Museum, the Domus of the Stone Carpets, Rasponi Crypt and Roof Gardens and the Ancient Port of Classe. For the youngest, a special event at Artificerie Almagià from 6pm: the party Le Arti della Marionetta - The arts of marionettes.
Among the new events of the 2016 edition, a special mention goes to Digital Marathon!
Several initiatives are scheduled, many of which taking place in Palazzo Rasponi dalle Teste, including the first Hackaton Ravenna: a proper digital marathon lasting a weekend, where teams of hackers, developers, graphic and creative experts will be busy programming prototypes of digital applications to improve citizens and turists' services.
The garden of the palace will also host Silent Party from 6pm to 11pm: an anusual open-air party with zero acustic impact, where live music is heard through headphones, available for each participant.
Dedicated spots for selfies and photos will be set in different areas of the city. If solving enigmas aided by figures dressed up as historical characters looks appealing to you (and you are over 16), sign up for the historical treasure hunt by cultural association Marigodosa “La luce di San Marco - Oscuri presagi”, set in Venetian-age Ravenna.
