Festa dei Musei and European Night of Museums • 2018

The Mibact, Ministry of Cultural Activities and Heritage and of Tourism, celebrates the European Night of Museums. On the night between 19th and 20th May, many cultural events will offer you the chance to discover the rich artistic heritage of Ravenna for a symbolic price of €1. Moreover, there will be events during the day hours such as concerts, guided tours and exhibition set-ups.

National Museum of Ravenna: from 8pm to 11pm (last admission at 10.30pm)
Basilica of Sant’Apollinare in Classe: from 8pm to 11pm (last admission at 10.30pm)
Mausoleum of Theoderic: from 8pm to 11pm (last admission at 10.30pm)
Arian Baptisteryfrom 8pm to 11pm (last admission at 10.30pm)

NATIONAL MUSEUM OF RAVENNA

Didactic Workshop | Small lanterns at the museum
An amusing playful and creative workshop where to build your own small lantern. Later on, a suggestive night walk to discover the cloisters of the museum. Curated by the staff of the Mibact educational facilities.

Guided tours at the National Museum of Ravenna and its heritage, which is incredibly varied and linked to the history of the city and its monuments. Curated by the staff of MiBACT Polo Museale dell'Emilia-Romagna and by the SCN volunteers
Pricing: 6€-fee (guided tours are included)


BASILICA OF SANT'APOLLINARE IN CLASSE

Date and time: Saturday, 19th May at 8.30pm

A guided tour at night to discover the amazing Basilica of Sant'Apollinare in Classe, UNESCO world heritage.


MAUSOLEUM OF THEODERIC

Date and time: Saturday, 19th May at 9pm
La Sapienza e la Forza - Knowledge and strength
The suggestive night hours are the perfect occasion to visit this majestic stone architecture. It is the only example of "barbarian" tomb in the world dating back to the 6th-century a.D. and it is the result of the old building knowledge and of an integration project among cultures.


THE (SO-CALLED) THEODERIC'S PALACE

Date and time: Saturday, 19th and Sunday, 20th May at 10.30am
Guided tour
A free guided tour at the so-called Theoderic's Palace and its "hidden" mosaics. Inside this late Medieval architecture that was part of the church of San Salvatore ad Calchi are fragments of floor recovered from the excavations during the beginning of the 20th century. They allow us to understand the evolution of lapidary mosaic from Romans ages until the Byzantine era.
Curated by the MiBACT Polo Museale dell'Emilia-Romagna personnel.
Pricing: 1€-fee (except for visitors entitled to free admission according to the law).


MAR - RAVENNA ART MUSEUM

Date and time: Saturday, 19th May until 10pm
On the occasion of the European Night of Museums, the exhibition Andante. Alex Majoli and the Permanent Collections of the Museum will be free admission from 6pm onwards.
