For the 5th edition of RavennaMosaico the Classense Library opens its doors to the Art, offering exhibitions where the mosaic shows innovation through materials and techniques distant from traditional rules.
For the occasion, after long restoration, Ravenna is given back the Sala dei Mosaici, a space of the ancient library that hosts an elegant floor-mosaic of the 6th century discovered 1875 in the archeological site of Classe.
Opening: Sautrday 7 October at 5pm
Il pasto bianco (mosaico di me) shows some of the most recents works by Silvia Celeste Calcagno, comparing ceramic with performance, installations, photography and for the occasion mosaic. On display Una storia privata, an installation that attempts to reflect on the relationship between us and the others.
An exhibition which summarizes the workshops of local schools together with panels created with the same technique of portraits and mosaic mixed together.
The Accademia di Belle Arti of Ravenna presents itself to the public through artworks of its students: a mosaic research which pays attention to tradition, but open to new medias and enriched with painting, sculpture, jewelry design as well as multimedia and photography. A fascinating knitting of stories where visitors can follow the thread of new crative experiences.
The contemporary mosaic in its expressions and linked to its historic tradition in its most innovative and experimental expressions. An important collective exhibition with works in compliance with the constitutive logics, but totally free in style and technique.
