From 10 October 2020 to 10 January 2021, the MAR − Ravenna Art Museum will present the solo exhibition Studio Luce dedicated to the great fashion photographer PAOLO ROVERSI.

The exhibition is set out on the MAR’s three dedicated floors and features a vast and diverse selection of stunningly juxtaposed images. It begins with Roversi’s first fashion shots and portraits of friends and artists such as Robert Frank, Anton Corbijn, and Peter Lindbergh, alternated with still lives of stools from the street and pictures of the Deardorff camera, which Roversi has always used.

Roversi showcases his latest works: a selection from the 2020 Pirelli calendar and a series of previously unreleased fashion shots from his decades of work for brands such as DIOR and COMME des GARÇONS, as well as for magazines such as Vogue Italia, ending with his latest editorials.

Paolo Roversi - Studio Luce is a unique opportunity to explore and understand the artist's images and imagination. As a tribute to the seven-hundredth anniversary of Dante Alighieri's death, there will be a wide selection of shots directly from Roversi's archive that celebrates the figure of the muse – Dante’s Beatrice from the Divine Comedy – embodied here by legendary women such as Natalia Vodianova, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, and Rihanna.

Save for the odd exception, Roversi works in his studio. This place plays a dual role: on the one hand it is a physical place, a bare-bones theatre where to stage dreams and desires; on the other hand it is a place of the mind, a sort of ritual context that opens the doors to alternate dimensions. And the key to these dimensions has always been light.
The exhibition, curated by Chiara Bardelli Nonino with sets by Jean-Hugues de Chatillon, conceived as a homecoming – both literally and metaphorically – and is the first thorough investigation of such a rich and complex visual universe.

The exhibition is possible thanks to the precious contribution of main sponsors Christian Dior CoutureDauphin and Pirelli

Admission with a fee: €9; €7 for reduced and groups; € students
