Id_Dante • Il Volto di Dante, per una traduzione contemporanea
Biblioteca di Storia Contemporanea “Alfredo Oriani” - via Corrado Ricci, 26
Dates: from 18/09/2016 to 30/10/2016
Hours: 9am - 1pm / 3pm - 7pm (from Monday to Saturday); 3pm - 7pm (Sunday)
In occasion of Settembre Dantesco, from September 18 to October 23 the cloisters of the Library "Alfredo Oriani" of Contemporary History in Ravenna will host “Il Volto di Dante, per una traduzione contemporanea”, an exhibition based on an idea by Marco Miccoli's Bonobolabo gallery, curated by Maria Vittoria Baravelli.
The exhibition is part of IdDante, a multi-year project dedicated to Dante Alighieri due to be concluded in 2021, on the 700th anniversary of Dante's death.
From design to comics, from mosaic to Technogel and Tape art, the multilingualism of the poet will be brought back through contemporary art. In accordance with the perfect metric scheme of the Divine Comedy, 33 artists + 1 will be invited to portray Dante's face following their own artistic sensibility. Thanks to the collaboration with the Department of Cultural Anthropology of the University of Bologna, a realistic reproduction of the Supreme Poet's face will be on display. The work is based on the first scientific survey made by the scholar Fabio Frassetto in 1921, on the 600th anniversary of Dante's death.
Throughout the duration of the exhibition, in the gardens of Oriani Library, an installation by Cracking Art group will be on display. Embracing an ideal of rigeneration of the Classic art through contemporary art, the exhibition will be the first step of a fundraising for the promotion of the cultural activities of Casa Oriani.
