Visitors have often wondered why at the entrance of museums are big books collecting their signatures. Are they mere registers with a statistic purpose? Technically, they are documents bound for the authorised personnel, but, with a thorough reading, they might tell stories of great interest and they might reach a wider public: their yellowish pages may help us to reveal facts and little stories that occurred more than one century ago.
"È gradita una firma" is a new dossier exhibition (curated by Emanuela Fiori and Paola Novara) that displays a series of objects, paintings and four big registers dating back to the period 1889 - 1913, namely the first 25 years of the museum, from its opening at the ground floor of the Monastery of Classe inside the city walls (Classense Library) - that happened only thanks to the dedication of the sculpturer Enrico Pazzi, up to its transfer in the Abbey of San Vitale, where it is still today.
Looking at the pages of the registers of the National Museum, you will find traces of visitors coming from all around the world. You will find out that many of them come from Europe, as well as the US, Canada, China, and that they arrived in this city after a long travel, facing several difficulties on their way there, including bad weather conditions.
On the occasion, the room of the stratigraphic waterholes will be open to the public and a new set-up dedicated to the archaeological excavations of the disappearance of the Church of Santa Croce will be visible.
The admission to the exhibition and the pricing is linked to the opening hours and to the admission-fees of the Ravenna National Museum.
