Art can be found around every corner of Ravenna.
The artistic nature of the former Byzantine capital is always dynamic and open to contemporary suggestions. Therefore, the interest towards Street Art has increased in recent years, so that some urban areas have been turned into open-air museums offering free access to anyone, either tourists or citizens.

The result is a real art invasion, forms and colours recreating and reshaping urban areas that would otherwise remain impersonal or subject to a slow degradation.

Reaching this goal is partly made possible by the annual festival Subsidenze, promoted by Indastria cultural association, in collaboration with the Department for Youth Policy of the Municipality of Ravenna. Since 2014 Subsidenze brings many renowned artists from all over the world to the city, such as Jim Avignon, Pixelpancho, Millo, and at the same time gives the chance to young street artists from Ravenna's area to express themselves and collaborate.

The works of street art are spread all over the city and can be found by following an itinerary of art and discovery. Many districts have been involved in the project, such as Ravenna city dock, whose area is undergoing a process of requalification in recent years.

The murals can be reached on foot, though it is recommended to move by bike (how to rent a bike), given the vastness of the urban area.
